Older versions of Rebel used software protection which was hard-coded to FAT12/16 DOS file system. That made them incompatible with other file systems, in particular the NTFS. Their DOS extender was also very fragile and prone to locking up in Win95/98 DOS Box. The hash table sizes were also quite limited under Win95/98 DOS Box (well below the table sizes for native Win32 CB based programs on the same system). To work-around that problem, one had to go to stand-alone DOS mode, having to wait for 2 slow reboots (and lose for the duration, among others, the internet access) to get in, play a game (with large hash) and get out. However I liked the Rebel's playing style and functionality, it was too much trouble to use in a busy daily schedule (especially after being spoiled with nice CB UI based programs). Does the new Rebel Century 3 on Rebel 11 distribution work under Windows NT/2000 and is it able to use "large" (say, a 64Mb tables on a plain 128Mb Win2k) hash tables in NT Dos Box? Or does it require DOS 6.2 (or similar) boot floppy along with existence of DOS partition on hard disk to operate at all on NT (with NTFS) machine or to use large hash tables?
