Chris, this is my final reaction to you. As I am working on opening
books
since 9 years, do a lot of research in openings, play through thousands
of
computer games a year, I know what I am talking about. I have my opinion
and I know that I am right. You are trying to convince me of the
opposite,
but the way you are doing it is hardly convincing to me. You stick to
your opinion, although the evidence proves the opposite. That's fine
with
me, you can have your opinion. But I disagree firmly with your opinion
and no matter what you say or do: I will not change it. Because it's
impossible for me to reject the truth.

I am chess enthousiast, a chess computer enthousiast and as any other
individual I have my opinions, my good points and also my faults. IF I
am wrong in a case, I'll be the first one to admit this (this is one of
my good points). But not in this case. Because my firm belief is that I
am right and that you are wrong. Period.

Furthermore I have met Marty Hirsch during the WCCCC in Portoroz, and in
my opinion he is a very warmhearted, friendly and nice human being. I
then
was very impressed by his program and I still am. I play MCP as well and
I enjoy playing it, as I enjoy playing different chess programs. As I
stated the difference at the top isn't big. Each program has its pro's
and
con's, but that's makes it so interesting to play against them.

But still the developments in opening books give me a bad feeling. By
expressing this feeling and posting my thoughts and facts about it as an
opening expert, other people know what's going on. And I sincerly hope
this silly bookcooking disappears. Chess programs don't need this and I
will be always strongly against it.

Best regards, for me this thread is now closed.

Jeroen
