Kasparov needs to win and in this situation I expect him to try to do it even if he thinks that kramnik has better chances. He cannot know that he has no chance without trying. I also disagree that deeper blue is superior. Winning a match 3.5:2.5 without playing more games is not a proof of superiority. I was not impressed by deeper blue based on the games. Kasparov got advantage in part of the games. Deeper blue won only because of mistakes that were not typical for kasparov(resigning in a draw position and getting into a position that he was not ready to play). The fact that Deeper blue could play against kasparov without proving itself in match against weaker players was another advantage of the computer. Uri
