Isn't it most sensible to wait until another 2 or 3 top programs are on the market, and are tested, and then get the one(s) with the strongest results? As I wrote below, Surely the STRONGEST program, even if it seems dull, will never be dull, if the most effective line is adventurous and brilliant. It will play that! But you can be confident that whatever it does is RIGHT and best. What interest is interesting if it might be wrong? That would make me spend hours and days testing interesting sacrifices to see if they are perfect or not, and I will never know what to expect, since sometimes they will be and sometimes not. If they are sometimes not, then in 5 years from now, that program will be wiped off the board by any other program, in a match, if not in every game, whereas Chess Tiger 13(e.g.)might remain quite competitive even long after then! Maybe CT 13 will now be the successor of HIARCS which seems to be quite resilient. Or will it be Shredder? But best competetive results must surely be the best buy, and the most authentic both positionally and tactically, and, when interesting--VERY interesting!
