OK, I've got a question for the group... I recently received my copy of CB 8 (German version), and have noticed the following: any analysis engine I start runs extremely slowly at the beginning, and gradually builds up to somewhat normal speed, although it is a bit slower than in either CB 7 or the Fritz GUI. I'm running a *don't laugh* P233mmx with 64mb of RAM, the reference database hash set to 2mb, and the engine hash set to 16mb. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? Needless to say, the engines all run just fine in either CB 7 or the Fritz GUI. Could it be that CB 8 is just such a memory hog that I'm plum out of luck? I imagine that the molasses-like speed of the engines at initial startup is due to the redistribution of memory, and I think it swaps to the HD for a few seconds before getting into regular memory usage mode. Just curious.. I've tried setting the engine hash all the way down to 8mb, with little change. Any ideas are appreciated. John Hartmann
