You have no idea how hard it was to choose ICD from all the many hundreds of
sites offering to host a free forum for chess and computer nerds! I mean, the
benefits accruing to such an entity would be *overwhelming* (maybe even hundreds
of dollars of potential profits!!!), and all for the measly cost of setting up a
membership-based server with hundreds (or is it thousands by now)of members,
allowing space for thousands of threaded posts, maintaining a very high uptime,
finding people to maintain the site, moderating the posts, setting up rules to
govern (supposedly) polite discourse, etc...I mean, can you imagine all of the
bids that were received offering to host it?!

I agree that the astonishing level of commercialism from ICD must cease, though.
They have a text link linked from another linked page! It has their *NAME* on
it! That's unbelieveable! and you even have to *type* their name
(www.icdchess.com) to get here! Appalling! They didn't even offer to buy us
several domain names so that we would never have to sully ourselves by typing
'ICD'. In fact, maybe we can convince them to stop selling chess equipment, so
that the fact that they are listed in the internet naming registry as being
associated with the site can't be exploited. Perhaps they could start selling
farm implements? Tractors...combines...threshers. Please let us know if you need
others to jump in on a class-action lawsuit with you.
