> I'm trying to figure out the significance of 10-24-2000, > but there probably wasn't any Actually, lots of folks interested in peer-to-peer developments were waiting in excitement for 10-24-2000, since that was day Ray Ozzie, the former star programmer of Lotus (who wrote Lotus Notes and for whom Bill Gates said to be one of the top ten programmers in the world), had scheduled press announcement about the secret project on which he and his 100+ hand-picked programmers have worked for 3 years. The only thing that leaked was that it had to do with P2P. The product they released is called Groove and it is a sophisticated P2P software, their web site is: http://www.groove.net/ On midnight, as 10-24 started, their site became practically impossible to get to, and it stayed so for the next couple days (the software is large to download).
