I am surprised to read that Junior jumps a lot in it's evaluation. I know that Junior is not a big preprocessor I do not have the latest version of Junior but I find the evaluations of Junior relatively stable and the main reason for jumping in the evaluation is search. If this is the reason for jumping and not preproccesing than I do not see a problem in jumping because the only stable program in evaluation is the program that evaluates everything as 0.00 > fritz cant find simple mates (gives bad impression) Do you mean to cases when fritz cannot see mates when there is a mate? All the null movers including crafty may have these problems. I believe that Fritz is better than Crafty in finding mates in practical games The simple test to find is to play games between Fritz and Crafty and to see which side is the first one to say mate for itself or against itself. I think that the best program for finding mate by this test is probably chessmaster unless you mean to tablebases mates. > >I havent tried the rebel products.......who knows maybe I will like them more. > >whats your choice? I think that Hiarcs7.32's evaluation and Chessmaster6000's evaluations are relatively stable. I will know more if I buy more programs I guess that I am going to get Tiger13 in the next weeks I did not buy Fritz6,Gandalf4.32 ,Shredder5,Junior6,Nimzo8,Chessmaster8000. I think that I may buy 2 or 3 new programs for my correspondence championship. I am not going to buy Fritz6 or Junior6 and I prefer to wait for the new versions. I do not think to buy Nimzo8 because I guess that it is not strong enough. Uri
