I agree with most of your points, ie. the ridiculous FIDE championships and the necessity of longer matches. Despite of that, as long as FIDE is alive and kicking there's going to be two World Champions. Not a good longterm situation. Noone thinks that we'll see a Kramnik-Khalifmann game anytime soon to solve it. That's why I want to see Kramnik win the FIDE championships. But if BGN manages to create a credible challenger cycle then it might survive publically and financially and be a credible alternative to the "official" WC. Time will tell. I'm not overly optimistic. Mogens.
