I'll never forget the beginning of France's first cable (and private) TV decided
to show some Baseball games just to show how bold it would be in future
programming (my opinion).
The French TV commentators had apparently been given a course in the mechanics
of the game, but had probably never seen one until then. The comments were
collosally funny, making all kinds of remarks in wide-eyed wonder, "notice the
players all wear pants in their uniforms, even in the Summer". Suddenly, there
was a close-up of the coach staring hard at the game and spitting every 2-3
seconds or so. The commentators went crazy, with one going "Oh my god he's
gross! This is so revolting", and the other backing him up. It both cracked me
up and saddened me.
