The coach was probably eating sunflower seeds, and spitting them on the floor of the dugout. A major point of baseball is that when your kid asks you what you do with the peanut shells, you can say, "Throw them on the ground!" It's important to note that you are not allowed to throw them over the railing into the lower deck. I had to explain this to my kid. bruce
