I think you need to take more things into account when naming great programs.
You have to consider the period of time that they were used, and also the
influence that they had on other programs that came since then.  Doesn't Deep
Thought deserve mention?  Same with comercial programs like Sargon?  Sure you
can slaughter the thing with all sorts of freeware today, but that doesn't count
when you take it out of it's own timeframe.  GNUchess because of it's wide
influence and what others have learned from it!

Anyhow, labeling Chess programs "all time greats" is too much of an opinion
thing.
