Subject: CCT2 - Excerpts from a TDs Diary.. Elves, beheadings and other fun stuff

Greetings fellow computer chess enthusiasts..

CCT2 is turning out to be a great tournament with lots of twists and turns. :)
Listed below are some things I'd like to add.

The first 4 rounds are over with Shredder leading the way with a perfect score
4/4. All information about the current status of the tourney can be seen from
the webpage at http://202.156.85.6/

The first 4 rounds went pretty smoothly (hey it could've been alot worse :)).
During round 4, some people might have noticed that the TD mysteriously
disappeared! Turns out that I succumbed to fatigue and slept thru round 4. I
apologize for missing out. I have no recollection of me conciously putting my
head on the keyboard. :) Once again, sorry to the players.

I logged in later only to find everything in order. (Here is where the elves
come in). Jbob (Chief elf) saved my behind and put the results and standing in
the relevant ICC accounts. I proceeded to save all the games in CCT2's liblist,
after which I did the pairings for round 5.

Some clearifications..
Regarding the earlier post about Tristram(C) and Loadedgun(C). Tristram(C) took
over for AvernoX in round 1 because of connection problems with the Averno team.
Tristram is Gnuchess. Loadedgun(C) is in fact AvernoX except under a different
account. It has the _same_ operator/hardware. So to make the tournament summary,
simply change the player names of both Tristram(C) and Loadedgun(C) to
AvernoX(C) and all will be in order.

Regarding the use of Shredder 4 vs Shredder 5. I first spoke to Stefan via email
a while back. I believe he told me that he was trying to get a version of
Shredder 5 for winboard working, but he said that he didn't think it would be
done in time. So shredder 4 would be used. I bizzare thing is that I found out
only during the tournament that ShredderX (shredder 4) was using Ebbi's
autoplayer interface (2 comps via auto232). As such, shredder 5 could have
easily been used in the same setup. A bit of a stumper this one...

Thats about all for this post.

Round 5 begins at 10am EST.
Hope to see all of you there!
Cheers,

Steve aka SJLIM(*)
