Shredder won WMCCC and the version was not shredder4. The reason that they chose shredder4 is not the fact that they prefered to play with well tested version. > >They WON...what else could you want? > >-- >GCP Maybe it could get a better score and win the tournament with 8 out of 8 and not 6.5 out of 8. Shredder4 did not prove itself in the ssdf games and it is only number 4. The fact that old versions of shredder win again is a disappointment because people expect new programs with better hardware like Nimzo8 or JuniorX to get better results(Junior6a is better than Shredder4 based on the ssdf list and Junior6a is number 2 when shredder4 is only number 4). It is not the first time that an old version of shredder does a good result. In the previous tournament shredder3 got second place and only crafty with better hardware could get better result. Other programs including Junior failed in that tournament. I do not know what is going on. If it was one tournament I would say that it is luck but when shredder wins again and again then there must be another explanation. Maybe better opening preperation to prepare for positions that the opponent does not like. Uri
