I suggested this to ICD and to Vincent (programmer of CCC-Offline program) on
the basis that CAB can easily be extracted with WinZIP and all the archive files
are in ZIP anyways BUT you're right I didn't think of other O/S (forgive me,m
kneeling :.) ) WinRAR 2.71 : www.rarsoft.com

is used by many of us AND it can accommadate other O/S. When I tried
recompressing the TXT files in the archived ZIP files CAB format was the best
BUT RAR & ACE were only slightly less ... basically minimal in difference.

I use WinAce 2 and WinRAR 2.71 a LOT and they blow away ZIP formats by a mile,
thats why a lot of the warez crowd use but many people have accepted the ZIP
standard in their cyberlives and they see this the most. I already dl all the
archives and am ready to translate into any format everyone sees fit and burn a
CD and then send it to ICD for everyone's convenience. My main objective was to
make it so the average user which doesn;t have broadband access can dl these and
enjoy Vincent's tool and peruse a wealth of knowledge. The total sum of the
archives is 120M, u use any of the other fornats I have mentioned and you will
shave off 90+M of extra dl for the modem user and more can enjoy this fine
archive of chess info. I even compressed the CCC-offline program EXE with ASPack
and now it is 50% smaller than the ZIP file.
