This is one of those things that's easier to suggest than to implement - but I really don't think it would be impossibly difficult to get the archives into an on-line, searchable format. One product which can text-index a web site for you is datagold. You can then search with straight text, boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT), or even natural language. The product can be downloaded from http://www.datagold.com/uk-tech.htm Alternatively, most databases offer a web interface these days - choose your favourite database, import the CCC discussions into it, and offer search facilities directly into the database. Other text document managers include (though I haven't studied whether they can be used over the web): Pagekeeper by Caere, and Isys by Equisys. If the archives really MUST be downloaded before being searched, how about using Adobe Acrobat? Everyone can download the reader freely, and I'm sure a way could be found to import the documents into it. -g
