Of course you're right, and I am sure that he will be winning more strong
tournaments and will be at or near the very top of the rating lists. I didn't
mean to imply that Gazza was a "has been" ... far from it! He remains one of
the very strongest players in history ... I just wanted to point out that
Kramnik also gives him fits at rapid and blitz chess.

Kasparov seems to be going through some severe personal crises at this point ...
perhaps his second marriage is in trouble, or perhaps there is a problem with
his ex-wife vis-a-vis visitation with his kid. I wouldn't wish that on anybody.
In any event, just like most of us, I played through all of the Kasparov-Kramnik
games from London and didn't think that the "old" Kasparov was there. When he
recovers his form (if he does) and his "fire in the belly" Kramnik will have all
the fight that he can handle to keep his crown. I hope that happens so that we
can witness a great struggle.

Does anyone have any idea why Kasparov kept trying the Berlin, when it was
obvious that it was not getting him the results he wanted? (In fact, it seemed
to play into Kramnik's match strategy as Black ... exchange queens, simplify and
draw.) Why didn't Kaspy try the Scotch or something unexpected (Vienna, etc)?
I especially wanted to see him try a Scotch and see a sharp middlegame struggle
... just what Kasparov is best at.

Does anyone know the results of the 2 rapid games on Saturday?
