The only similar problem I can recall occurred when the folder
"HIARCS FILES" was not in the same folder as the HIARCS 7.0 PPC engine.
In that case, HIARCS appears to launch, then immediately and silently quit.
Make sure the engine file is in the folder which contains the "HIARCS FILES"
folder.

If the guidance above doesn't solve the problem, try following this
procedure:
- Insert the HIARCS CD in the target machine.
- Create a folder on the target machine hard drive called "HIARCS 7.0"
- drag from the CD into the "HIARCS 7.0" folder (in this order)
  - the file labelled "hash"
  - the file in the CD "Engines" directory labelled "HIARCS 7.0 (PPC)"
  - the folder "HIARCS FILES"
- check inside the "HIARCS 7.0" folder on the target hard drive to make
sure the three items in the folder are the three above
- double click the "HIARCS 7.0 (PPC)" on the hard drive (or on a conveniently
placed alias of this - that's what I use when I care).

If this does not work for you, then reboot the computer, and hold down the
shift key as soon as the Mac or MAC OS icon appears (to turn off extensions).
[Make sure that it says at some point in the boot process that it is booting
with extensions off] then try again (just in case it is some extension
conflict - I've never seen this happen, but it is always a possibility).

Let me know (email me) if this does not clear it up. I have personally run
HIARCS 7.0 successfully on every system I've tried, and that includes:
- 6100/66 with OS 7.5
- 7300/180 with OS 7.5
- 7300/180 with OS 8.6
- G3/750 with OS 8.5.1
- iMac 233 with OS 8.5.1
- G3/400 with OS 8.5.1
- G3/300 Powerbook with OS 8.5
