I guess that playing against chess programs is the not the popular way of using chess programs. There are other ways to use chess programs. 1)Give one program to play against another program and watch the games. 2)Analyzing positions with it 3)playing advanced chess against them when you use another program to help you. 4)playing correspondence games when both sides use computers. If you are interested only in playing regular games then I guess that you do not need new chess programs. Uri
