I guess the 16 >bit graphics have alot to do with the cpu requirement >Bill While the 16-bit graphics DO put more of a strain on the CPU, the MAIN reason that a Pentium II is the minimum processor is that the development team assumed that, if you have a Pentium or slower processor, then your WHOLE MACHINE is probably far too outdated to handle the requirements of the program (sound card, video card, etc.). The development team (as well as the marketing and sales folks) don't like people to buy a program and then have it perform poorly on their machine. Even though a computer with a Pentium can RUN Chessmaster 8000, it is quite likely that, unless you have a great amount of RAM, a fast video card, a larger hard drive, and an upgraded sound card from the one that you bought with that machine, running the program will be quite unpleasant for you. jm
