All that is necessary is telling each engine (when switching to the secondary time control) what the new time control is and how much time it has on its clock. I believe that CM8000 is telling each engine with each move how much time it has, so only the first part of this must be coded. However, certain restrictions are likely to be put on this, such as you won't be able to say 40/120 followed by 10 second hourglass, for example. (p.s. does ANYBODY really use hourglass? The development team was considering killing it, but had no data on how much it is actually used). The only unofficial ELO I have for CM8000 is 2724. In the engine test that occurred in July, Chessmaster, against opponents rated 2000 and above, scored +57 =1 -2. Against 2200 and above it was +22 =0 -2. Against 2300 and higher, it was +11 =0 -1. The calculations were made and 2724 USCF was the result. Of course, there is a fairly wide margin of error, considering the rather large difference in computers that were used. I would GUESS, though, that the above rating is within 50 points +-. What other program are you referring to when you say "both programs"? Chessmaster 8000 is currently in production and should be available next week. jm
