Surely you are right. There is a very big gap between an "idea" just enunciated in words and the same one putted to work. And of course there are many nuances as those you mentioned. Chess is complex, of course. Nevertheless, the fact that an idea is clumsy at the beginning does not means it is an unuseful idea. The point here is the principle in action: instead of a code that is runned all the time, from top to bottom no matter what position is at stake, something more smart trying- just trying- to go further. I am sure some kind of specific program can be produced precisely to make the judgment about what module put to use. Kind of meta-program. The program to end all programs...:-) Fernando
