Indeed, it appears that Gambit-Tiger played better. Should that be an
astonishing surpise to anyone? Even with two evenly matched engines, one will
play better than the other at times. And it is also probably true that Gambit
Tiger is somewhat stronger than crafty.
However, if we boil it down succinctly, I think we can avoid even the single
game analysis to determine which program has more brains.
Suppose (for instance) that a program plays 1. b4 ...
It is obviously better than all the other programs, because it is daring. While
the Orangutan wins a lot of games, it also loses a lot of games. Hence it is
the "Guts for Glory" opening and all others are cringing and cowardly.
So (you might ask yourself) does my favorite program like to play 1. b4 on a
frequent basis? If not then clearly your program is not enterprising,
entertaining or aggressive. It is a passive mamby-pamby and should be disposed
of or disdained.
