That is a very bad game from Crafty's point of view. It made a huge number of
bad decisions, discounting possible tactical mistakes:
1) It made little effort to establish pawn influence in the center, and was
essentially playing black after move 4 or so.
2) It developed its pieces pasively and never did develop its QB or QR.
3) It went after b7 with its queen.
4) It played to the rim with its knight.
5) It exposed a weakness on g3.
6) Rather than covering the weakness by playing Bg2 it traded this bishop in
order to fracture some pawns. The weakness on g2 is obviously more important,
given the lack of defenders in the area.
7) It played the queen off-side a second time.
8) It developed pieces away from the threatened kingside.
9) It allowed black to isolate the king-side and develop a winning attack with
ease.
If my program played that I would think that it was badly out of adjustment. It
needs a fire lit under its butt in order to get developed more aggressively and
with more speed, and it needs to understand black's attempt to build up mass
near white's king, and counter it.
There are many ways to look stupid in a computer chess game, and mine is capable
of looking as stupid or stupider than this.
Tiger developed naturally and agressively and didn't need to speculate at all,
as near as I can tell. The offer of the b7 pawn early on seems to be a sham,
since I think Na5 wins the queen.
I would feel pleased with myself if mine had played these moves.
