The best programs are getting very smart, and aren't making so often those "dumb computer moves" that formerly embarassed them. I have an opinion about which of the top commercial programs is still the dumbest, playing the most "purposeless-looking" or "ugly-looking" moves. (I own the previous version, and the latest version can be seen in play on-line.) They all beat me. But I would rather believe that it takes a little chess-knowlege to do so. And I would rather have a meaningful "argument" about the position, than MERELY being ripped-off tactically. Because, as I said, they can ALL do that.
