Starting from version 5, VB can compile to P-Code or to machine code; in this case you can even set some optimization flag that greatly improve my engines's performance (ie No array bound check etc..) However it still can't compete in raw speed with C... just waiting for VB 7/VB.net ;-) Regards Luca
