One of the first things I did after installing was to cannibalize a database, merge the result with my mainbase of about 1.8 million games, and then run a doubles kill and physical deletions on it. The whole process took several days, and there were long periods where ctrl-alt-del would show ChessBase 8 as not responding, and it would be very difficult to do other things on that machine while it was running, but by leaving it alone, it was able to complete all of the operations without crashing. I think this is something that still needs to be improved with ChessBase, that long database operations be more "multitasking friendly". I also wouldn't mind seeing the tree format expanded to allow text annotations, and possibly something like the "accumulations" feature of Bookup. I would prefer to work on my repertoire in the tree format rather than in a repertoire database (where transpositions are awkward to deal with and are not automatically detected), and I like to include the game or publication source of my data, and I also like to see which branches of the tree I've worked on a lot and which ones I haven't.
