The bean-counters do - in no way - kill the others. its opposite. when hiarcs came on the market (maybe you forgot about) it dominated. Same counts for shredder4 and will be for shredder5. Also for Tiger12/13/Gambit-Tiger. Also ChessMaster programs were really good when they came on the market. what you should NOT do is relating a program like hiarcs wit todays programs (no matter if bean-counter or knowledge). the same with shredder. GT kills shredder4. Shredder5 will not be killed, or ? so the problem is relating OLD knowledge base programs against later bean-counters. or vice-versa. your comments reminds me on famous american-western question where they legitimate the killing of indians with the question: do indians have a soul?!
