Absolutely. There is a joint intelligence center (JICPAC) in Australia.

A nuclear war wouldn't go the way of China. Nor the U.S. Short of
that, there is no contest. The US is better trained, better equipped,
and just better. China doesn't even have a formidable navy. I don't
think they have a single operable submarine. Our Coast Guard alone
could kill their navy. Given that, short of nuclear war our turf is
safe.

Okay.... they do military service. So have I. The difference is they
sit in their little ditches with bayonets screaming "come on!", while
we sit off the coast in warships and deploy trained marines and the
world's best carrier pilots.

Whoopppeeeeee!!!!!! They parade their nuclear weapons!!!! Whooooaaahhh!

Because human rights is without question the first thing that should be
talked about with respect to China.

I read an article in a tech magazine several months ago about a guy in
Japan who was deploying some kind of wireless telecommunications network...
He went on at length about China... you see, the television their is
state controlled. The people there see what their government wants them
to see. Contrary to what you may think, our media is not state controlled.
At least not to that extent.

You may be right about that.... sad but true.

I'd have to agree. There are different opinions in the US about our role
in the global "scheme of things." Some believe we should be the world's
police force; that it is in our best interest to keep the peace around
the world. One of our navy's primary missions is to ensure that sea
lanes stay open worldwide for trading.

Others think we overextend and stick our nose in where it doesn't belong.
Our military should fight war, win war, and come home until the next war.

It's tough to say who's right, but consider this: suppose the rest of
the world stands back and watches as tensions escalate between India
and Pakistan. Suppose (not hard to do) that they both are nuclear
capable. We don't want to get involved, because it's not "our business."
Then nuclear war breaks out.... and we're all toast. Seems somebody
should've gotten involved, heh?
