Sounds like the guy is a dick-head. We do have them here. Ironically, most of
them drive German cars.

That's life.

It's antiquated, and they should fix it.

If the machine doesn't understand who was voted for, it doesn't count the vote.

Florida is warm. The northeastern part of the country is cold in the winter.
Old people from the northeast retire and move to Florida. The politics in the
southern part of the country are more conservative than the politics in the
northeastern part. When people move down there, they tend to move to particular
areas. So you get areas with a lot of people who would tend to vote one way,
and other areas where they would tend to vote another way.

If the voting mechanism is bad in a place where people would have tended to vote
for Gore, Gore suffers more than Bush. So if votes in those places are counted
more accurately, Gore will benefit. The argument is all about where they will
take the trouble to count the votes accurately.

This would not have mattered if Florida had done what it usually does, and voted
conservatively. There are getting to be enough people from up north who have
moved down there, that the state is apparently exactly balanced.

>sorry - this is all to complicate for me...

It's insane, an it's unfortunate that they had problems in the one place where
who voted for who really matters.

We are doing just fine, mostly.

Hiaason doesn't evaluate the American way of life, he writes funny fictional
books that are set in Florida. I am certain that we will see a book about an
election there at some point in the future.

Good plan. It is all screwed up now and it won't be fixed until they do a few
more rounds of court.

Good. It sounds like he deserved it.
