Selective search is by far superior to brute force.
At the early stage of computer programming, the programmers did not know how to
do a good selective search, and that's why brute force programs were more
successful.
But since more than 15 years we know how to be both selective and accurate, and
since then selective search is the best way. Without any doubt.
