And now I am wondering about the opening book. Considering that using the default opening book CM8000, the program with Black was always having to come from behind and failed with Black to win a single time out of 4 games, I thought I'd try a different book. So, using the same personality (Chessmaster), I changed to the Fischer book and played 2 games Berlin v Chessmaster at G/30 with CM8000 playing Black both games. CM8000 came out of book both times with almost an even evaluation score and won both games convincingly. I know that these are far too small a number of games to prove anything, but when 4 failures with one book are followed by 2 solid wins with a different book, it makes me wonder. eric
