Perhaps a middle course could be followed. Some minimal list as that I suggested as example could be prepared. I think that there are maybe a dozen esential things to test that can be done with same number of positions you can get from any chess book. I believe each tester had his own recipe for that. The point is: in this case the omision is so great that it is almost incredible. B+N mates are the kind of things that, when first introduced in programs, were a marketing feature clearly and loudly announced. "This program can mate with Bishop and Knight..." That is done since times of Colossus chess for Atari. OK, tester are not paid in cash. Precisely: that's reason no to be one if you are not prepared to do a more thourough job, because then you have the sad excuse: "Hey, remember I was not paid..." I would not dare to say such a thing.
