Because the purpose of a demo is just to let you get an idea of how the program works, but I most definitely agree that they should explain how the demo works. There are plenty of excellent computer chess sites, but it appears all the decent program vendors have very crappy sites. Between the websites of Rebel, Shredder, and Chessbase, it'd be hard to tell which is worst--probably Rebel. By the way, you can get a demo that is fully functional with no time bomb at the Rebel site, but it's a DOS program. Ed--the guy who wrote the program--does explain exactly what the deal is with the demo--something like it plays at 2500 or so except the last Friday of the month, when it plays at 2700. rc
