I agree that issues like step parenting should be discussed, and people should
know about the consequences of the reduced pressure for parents to get married
and stay married. According to Matt Ridley's book, "The Red Queen" (popular
science), children who live with a step father are 69x more likely to die before
the age of 16 than children who live with their natural father.

However, in general you should be aware that it is quite likely that people who
are good at talking to other people, and reduce their risk of needlessly firing
negative emotions in them, will be more successful in life than those who are
clumsy with their use of the verbal tool.

This case is put forcefully in Leil Lowndes' book, "How to talk to anyone". I
have read the book, and I think I might have benefitted from it in this way.
