You do not have to buy the tablebases.  They can be downloaded free at Hyatt's
site.  Also I have run Fritz 6 without tablebases.  It can be done.  I believe
you have to "uncheck" the "Use Tablebases" box and then exit and restart Fritz.
You may have to also edit the Chssbase.ini file in windows to hide any
tablebases you may have.  (not sure about that)
