Hi Frank ,
I think with all the commercial advertisement slowly taking over the board it is
only fair to mention one of the lesser known but great free amateur programs !
The chessprogram market currently is completely over-loaded IMHO both in the
amateur and the professional world and so few people have or take the time to
follow the development aside from the 2 or 3 programs which are determined to
become the next world champion or take over SSDF .
Bringer recently has improved significantly engine-wise and its GUI has been
competitive with a few commercial programs praised highly for quite some time
now .
The gap to the best ones is slowly but surely decreasing . Gerrit Reubold
doesn't seem to have run out of good ideas for both : the engine _and_ the GUI .
I am really looking forward to the next public release and think it might
surprise some :-) !
A little impression from the front : Game played on 2 PIII500s , Time Control :
Game in 1 hour , 10 seconds increment/move

PS : As the emotions seem to be very heated here currently I'd better mention
that I don't claim Bringer is stronger than Nimzo 8 or even close :-) . Not yet
at least ;-) .
