From some weeks of experience with * WINDOWS ME * I can tell, that ChessBase 7.0
(and Hiarcs 7.32, Shredder 3.0 as well) seem to run very well in the new windows
version. In fact, I did not see any particular change compared to Windows 98 or
-SE in this respect.

But I have disabled part of the new "stability" features (or whatever this
is...), because I do not like to use the task scheduler. I hate the task
scheduler. Therefore, I removed some pc-health task from the autostart menu.
Copy that at your own risk only...

Furthermore, I have again changed the configuration to a fix-sized swap file,
and set the vcache to a permanent size too (min. and max., in the system.ini).
By this I followed recommendations for better memory/hash handling in Windows
95, which worked ok for me with Windows 98 and -SE, so I decided to keep this
settings.

I cannot say how the behaviour of these chess programs would be exactly without
these changes, in the default situation. I can only assume that it's not much
different (in general, I do not see any memory problems being reported, related
to hash table usage - although I'm sure the majority of users did not change
their windows configuration as mentioned above).

Regards,
M.Scheidl

P.S. I use the updated versions of the CB software.
