Thank you for your interest.
We are currently in a state of redesign and condensing of two
main-line versions to find the best of both worlds.
The main improvements are:
- new book (plays positions that have been played in GM praxis which
had th best result, avoiding lost lines.)
- evaluation function terms are smaller resulting in fewer material
errors due
to positional component becoming too large.
- variety of new evaluation terms, more knowledge.
- playing at 2840 on ICC against humans on an 800mhz dedicated processor
(i.e. does not share processor with OS.)
- adjusts randomness of book based on strength of opponent.
- factors opponent's rating into decision on whether to play into or
avoid draws.
- new quiescence search conducts superior quiescence search.
- new improvements to bit-handling for attack/move-generation improving
speed.

just recieved the beta version from the author,
the original version probably wont be released in few months.
I think it's quite impressive to have 2800+ rating in ICC (even if it is with
humans only), considering the fact that scrappy(c) has 3000-3200+ rating.
I think improvements on gnuchess should be interesting, because of the fact that
it has been around for soooo long :)
enjoy,

ps, I guess more people will be informed if posted in winboard forum,
but I prefer this forum.
