I take great exception to the notion that ChessBase only cares about helping you
when you are going to buy something. I have NEVER found that to be the case.
Did you even bother to ask Steve Lopez?

Also a lot of people say to back up to a CD-R type medium. I think that is
good, but I recently discovered a product called ORB which is a portable
"floppy" that is as fast as a 5200 HD. It holds 2.2 gigs and in January, they
will have a 5.7 gig "diskette". When you use compression, I think that doubles
in both cases. Always do backups of course, and I intend to use both a CD-RW
(although DVD-RAM is appealing too), and the new ORB drive.

I am sorry you lost your data, and I can only imagine the disappointment. I
suggest you try CB although they do read your comments on this board. I would
start by apologizing :) If it can be recovered, they will find it!
