This is a known bug and it would be difficult to COMPLETELY eradicate in the
patch due to the nature of the error (which I will not go into in great detail
here). Here's the way to at least TEMPORARILY eliminate it.

Open your USER.LAY file in your favorite text editor (Notepad will suffice),
which is in your user directory, where USER is the name of your user. Find ALL
lines that contain the text "customize_board=" and DELETE THEM ENTIRELY. There
should be about five or six of them in all. Unfortunately, I'm not 100% sure
that I've spelled the text correctly, but the entry should be SOMETHING like
that (I'm at home and I haven't installed it here -- if I'm wrong I'll correct
myself tomorrow).

After deleting those lines, save the file and try running the program and
loading your user again. That should fix the problem.

HOWEVER, due to the nature of the bug, explicitly loading any OTHER layout MIGHT
cause it to occur again. So, beware....
