Hello James,
CM8K is a great beginners program.  The tutorials are excellent.  They have bugs
in them of course.  It is also one of the strongest programs on the market.
Chessmaster is the most buggy program I have ever owned.  I'm sure the patch
will fix most of them.  Can you give an example/position where CM8K takes twice
as long as CM5.5?  Maybe there is something you have set up wrong?
