Assume that F6's mate in 15 at the end of your Hiarcs 7.32 variation is valid.
Then, I suspect that (in the H7.32 variation) 5... b3 is inferior because
a.  It narrows Black's "middle of the board" shelter   AND
b.  It releases the c3 strong-point for the Black Bishop.

Omitting 5...b3 preserves Black's chances for a "b4-c3" fortress as well as an
e5-f6 fortress; forced draw here therefore seems plausible.

Also, in the original position (8/3Np3/7P/1p3P2/1k6/5K2/1b6/8 w), the question
remains whether 1. Ke4 wins.
