I hope this doesn't sound silly but I'm beginning to wonder if it is possible that Chessmaster 8000 with White is a stronger program than with Black. I played a series of games between CM8000 on my Celeron 333mhz vs. a "lowly" dedicated computer, Berlin Pro. My other top programs, Genius 5, Fritz 5.32, Hiarcs 7.32 and Chessmaster 6000 had collectively won almost every game at game/30 against Berlin. CM6000 had, for example, scored 18-0 with 2 draws. Fritz 5.32 scored 27-0 with 3 draws. So when I began to play games between Berlin and CM8000, it surprised me that after 17 games CM8000 had scored 11-1 with 5 draws. But then I saw that with White CM8000 had won all 8 games-all of them decisively. But with Black it had only scored 3-1, with 5 draws. Moreover, in 2 of the draws CM8000 had to make a comeback to escape luckily. So is this a case of a coincidence and too few games. Or is it possible that CM8000 is a little schizophrenic? eric
