It's black to move. If play continues, 1. ... Rf3+ 2. Ke2 Kg5 then as you
suggest white checks (Rc5 being the only check) then white will lose. Unless you
are referring to the move actually played by Century, Kg5 (instead of Rf3+).
Then of course the obvious Rc5+, Rf5, Rxf5 and easily draws. This is what
happened in the game.
