The problem is that there is no way to say "hardware as fast as deep blue's"... since they used special- purpose hardware that has facilities far beyond any architecture of today. And it would require a _serious_ set of changes to today's programs. IE only two commercial engines are parallle. _neither_ knows anything about message passing. Etc...
