We have never taken the stance that if something is off-topic we will immediately remove it. We try to tolerate some off-topic discussions so long as they don't go on too long and they don't become too ugly in content. We often request that a particular thread (or sub-thread) be stopped. We rarely delete something, unless we get significant complaints. Have you complained about any posts here via moderator email? That is the way to get our attention, otherwise we assume everything is acceptable.
