The custom board can be very finicky about which piece sets look good with which board configurations. BUT, it also allows you to use some very bizarre looking piece and board combinations, if you try hard enough (or get unlucky enough). Using the "Customize Board" dialog, you can make the board any size, and the piece sets that are available to you are directly related to the size of the board. If the board is too small, all you'll get is the newspaper set (like you are experiencing). Also, I would strongly advise against using any of the true perspective sets unless you set up the board so it is almost identical to the orientation of the other perspective boards available in the game. The GUI TRIES to make it all look good, but sometimes the best it can do results in what you are seeing. In other words, it has nothing to do with your machine or the installation. jm
