You need to insert your windows 98 cd in the bay and then proceed as follows: hit start; click programs; click accessories; click system tools, click system information and then click on the top taskbar, tools. When the pull down menu comes on, click on system file check. Let window find the corrupted files and then just restore from the cd. In addition, you may have to check your cpu temp; if you overclocked, your increased heat may be causing error messages. Try getting better cooling or increasing the voltage. www.overclockers.com has lots of worthy information.
