Request help from anyone, especially Steve Lopez. Enclosed is Chessbase response + my original query. Steve, please also look at additional questions (at bottom). I do not wish to install Internet Explorer, but I wouldn't mind manually injecting a specific DLL, if anyone could identify surgical resolution. ============================== Chessbase Response ==================== Dear Mr. Schooler, you should install Internet Explorer 4 or 5 in order to make Fritz6 run on your Win95 system. Upgrading to Win98 would also help. Yours sincerely, Steffen Giehring ChessBase Germany ====================== My Original Email Support Request ============= Installation problem -------------------- Just purchased Fritz6 CD-Rom. Selected "Typical" installation, including Internet Explorer files and Html help. Allowed InstallShield to immediately reboot system. Then, immediately tried to start Fritz6, via desktop icon. Result was two message boxes, shown below. Please advise. Message Box (on top) Title: Error Starting Program Message: The FRITZ6.EXE file is linked to missing export WININET.DLL:InternetGetConnectedState. Message Box (underneath) Title: C:\Games\Fritz6\Fritz6.exe Message: A device attached to the system is not functioning. Note: since my ISP supports Netscape, I never installed MicroSoft's Windows 95 (OSR2-b) Internet Explorer. Are there specific Windows 95 components I need to install from my Win 95 Installation CD? Additional questions -------------------- 1. What is your e-mail address? Should I use that address for all (subsequent) Fritz 6 support communication? What types of questions should be directed to Steve Lopez instead? What is his e-mail address? 2. What is the difference between Fritz 6a and Fritz 6b? After my installation problem is resolved, I'll want to upgrade. Should I upgrade to: a. Fritz 6a only b. Fritz 6a and then Fritz 6b c. Fritz 6b directly. 3. In conjunction with your response to question 2 above, how do I upgrade?
